The history of Ismailia does not go back only to the period of the suez canal digging in 1862 as many people may think, but modern historical studies take the area back to the antiquity where its land had witnessed the traveling through of the prophets, Abram, Joseph and his father Jacob, as well as the exodus of Moses and the holy family from Egypt and she opened its impulsive heart to the advent of the Arab conquistador AMR Ibn al-as to spread the Islam.

The khedive of  Egypt when its foundation stone was put in Atabet el Gesr region during the digging of the Suez Canal. In 1960 it was declared as an independent governorate after Joining el Quantara Shark City to its administrational boundaries.

Ismailia is situated in the middle of the Suez Canal bordered by the governorates of Port- Said on the north, Suez on the south, Sinai on the east, Sharqia on the west and meets with cairo on the south west.

Bride of the canal, is famed as a winter resort with its fabulous dry, sunny weather and peaceful atmosphere. In winter, temperatures average 19- 22 Celsius degrees whereas in summer it soars to 34-37 Celsius degrees.

Ismailia, also known as the "Garden of Egypt" for the vast areas of gardens and the fabulous and rare palm trees adorning its streets.

Is the capital of the Suez Canal region, with an area of (5066 km2). It is situated mid-way between Suez and Port Said. The city is 127 kilometers northeast of Cairo, the journey to Ismailia takes just an hour and a half by car or bus.

Private car, train or bus can reach Ismailia. Super Jet buses leave from Cairo's Almaza Station every 20 minutes from 6 am. Until 8.30 pm. while East Delta buses leave every half-hour from 6.30 am. until 7.30 pm. Trains leave from Cairo's Ramses Station at 6.25 am. /7.30 am./ 8.45 am./11.30 am./ 2.30 pm./ 5.45 pm. and 7.10 pm.

Once there, transportation is easy and affordable to and from Ismailia.

Ismailia is surrounded by water, (El-Temsah Lake), which occupies an area of 14 square kilometers, is the focal point of the city. Much of the city's tourist industry has sprung up on its shores. This is where you can find tourist villages, hotels and youth hostels. (The Bitter Lakes in Fayed) which occupies an area of 121 square kilometers, making an attractive water resort known for its various sporting activities like rowing, swimming, wind surfing, jet skiing and fishing.
